Hobbies and Interests
Photography
In recent years, I have been getting more and more into photography. I recently upgraded to a Nikon D80 digital SLR. I’m working on putting up some of the more interesting pictures instead of a huge pile of pics… stay tuned!
Television
Thanks to my Tivo, I’m never searching for things to watch on TV. There always seems to be a few episodes of my favorite shows just waiting for me. Currently, my Tivo consumes shows like 24, Prison Break, Heroes, Boston Legal, Mythbusters, and Deadliest Catch. I’m also still a big fan of Arrested Development, even though Fox killed it prematurely. I tend to watch some reality television like Survivor, The Amazing Race, and The Apprentice and of course, the staple dramas like CSI, ER, and Law & Order. Up on the all-time-favs list are Airwolf, Growing Pains, Friends, The West Wing, Seinfeld, Knight Rider, Quantum Leap, and almost anything from Jim Henson.
Movies
My interest in movies kicked into high gear just as I began attending WPI. Every Sunday night I would project movies on campus as part of Lens and Lights and am still a licensed projectionist. I was the Head Projectionist at WPI for 2 years, and quickly became that annoying guy in the theater who yells “CUE!” twice every twenty minutes. Another annoying side-effect of projecting movies is I always notice visible equipment (such as a drooping boom mic), bad edits, and other movie-mistakes. Of course, you’ll never see me leave the theater until they show the rating after the credits!
Music
I consider my taste in music very unique, and my tolerance very broad. I’ll listen to almost anything if it’s on. However, I’m a big fan of Guster, They Might Be Giants, The LeeVees, The Killers, Billy Joel, 80’s music, TV Themes, and soundtrack music. There is a little bit of everything (except rap and country) in my CD/MP3 collection.
Video Production
Ever since high school, I have been interested in video production. I haven’t exactly packed up and moved to LA, but movie production still interests me (wait, watching Project Greenlight doesn’t count?!?). I’m still saving up for a decent Mac so I can re-edit/re-mix my existing home/project videos I have. It would also be good to rescue them from my decaying videotape collection.
